spring break: cabin with friends, a pesky cold, sports weekend
last monday morning the kids and i hit the road for ashford, wa. we got a last-minute invitation from vanessa for us to join their family, but thatcher needed to stay home and work. we missed him, but i'm so glad we could get out of town for a few days to break up the week with no school. the town of ashford is a little over 2 hours away near mount rainier and it's where we stayed over the new year as well. we made it to the cabin with no issues. it's been years since i've taken the kids on a (road) trip by myself. the cabin was really nice and there was plenty of space for the 6 of us. shortly after we arrived, we went to coal creek inn for lunch (we went there for the first time back in december). we spent most of our time at the cabin eating, drinking, hot tubbing, watching tv/movies, playing video games (the kids), and reading. perfection! we did venture out on tuesday to ashford county park. we walked a short 1-mile loop trail, but it started pouring shortly af
